Austin area youth built comfort kits for Camp Mabry
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Austin Youth built comfort kits benefiting Camp Mabry military children and their families
Austin area youth built comfort kits for Camp Mabry military children who will experience an upcoming deployment. The comfort kits were created by The Comfort Crew for Military Kids, an Austin based nonprofit organization creating resources to support and comfort military children and their families.
Austin, TX, July 26-27, 2011 — Building on the success of the recent service project with Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Comfort Crew for Military Kids brought a similar event to Austin benefiting the children of soldiers in the 1st Battalion (Airborne), 143rd Infantry Regiment, who will be deploying out of Camp Mabry.
The event took place on July 26-27, at the Train 4 The Game facilities in Austin, Texas. Trevor Romain and former University of Texas/current NBA basketball players were in attendance.
In partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area, Communities In Schools of Central Texas, and Train 4 The Game, the service project allowed Austin area youth to build the Comfort Crew’s resource for military children: the With You All the Way! deployment kits. Theses kits, developed in collaboration with the USO, include a set of resources designed to address the unique needs of children who have a deployed family member.
